At Trek N Explore, we believe you should have full control over your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time using either of the methods described below.
Method 1: Delete from the App (Recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is directly from the app:
- Open Trek N Explore on your device.
- Navigate to Settings (gear icon).
- Scroll to the bottom to the Danger Zone section.
- Tap "Delete Account".
- Choose your deletion option:
- Disable Account: Temporarily disable your account. You can reactivate it by logging back in.
- 14-Day Hold: Schedule permanent deletion in 14 days. You can recover your account by logging in before the 14 days expire.
- Delete Immediately: Permanently delete your account and all data right now. This cannot be undone.
- Confirm your choice when prompted.
Method 2: Request via Email
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by email:
- Send an email to treknexplore.dev@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
- Include the phone number associated with your account (with country code, e.g., +91XXXXXXXXXX).
- We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 business days.
- You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.
What Data Is Deleted?
When your account is permanently deleted, the following data is removed from our servers:
- Profile Information: Display name, username, profile photo, and phone number.
- Messages: All private messages, group messages, and public chat history.
- Location Data: All stored location data and location history.
- Posts & Content: All feed posts, photos, and user-generated content.
- Connections: All handshake connections and contact lists.
- Pool Memberships: Removal from all adventure pools and groups.
- Push Notification Tokens: FCM device tokens.
- Authentication Data: Firebase authentication credentials.
Data Retention After Deletion
- Account data is deleted immediately upon confirmed deletion or after the 14-day grace period expires.
- Some anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., total user count, feature usage statistics) may be retained, but this data cannot be linked back to you in any way.
- We may retain certain data as required by law or to prevent fraud, but only for the minimum period necessary.
Important Notes
- Deletion is permanent. Once your data is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
- Messages you sent to other users may still appear in their chat history, but your name will be removed or replaced with "Deleted User."
- If you used a 14-day hold, logging back in before the 14 days expire will cancel the deletion and restore your account.
